the cultural and natural resources accessible to all members of a society, including natural materials such as air, water, and a habitable earth. These resources are held in common, not owned privately.

ordinarily, news media uses the status quo as a measure of good and bad news. during a crisis, the inevitable distance from “business as usual” opens the floodgates for  change - consolidations of power at the top and resiliant reorganization at the bottom become viable. I have taken the liberty of  aligning the news media with an alternative status quo, one that begins with the unexpected shutdown of  capitalism during a global pandemic.
